Strengthening
Law Enforcement Communities
Strengthening Law Enforcement Communities provides
practical guidance for agencies to develop a support
structure for their community and is endorsed by law
enforcement and military personnel. Agencies must help
cultivate support structures for law enforcement officers
(their organization’s primary asset) and their
families. The industry provides many challenges not
unlike those experienced in a military profession.
The resources available to support military personnel
and their families are plentiful. The many similarities
between the military and law enforcement highlight
the need for a stronger support structure for law enforcement,
to include expanded programs and services for the families.
Our studies have found that the military has a much
more robust support structure than law enforcement.
The goal of this training program is to help agencies
positively impact the entire law enforcement industry.
Sections of the training focus on: Understanding the
culture; Getting to know the agency; Benefits and financial
affairs; Personal and relationship support; and Support
structure cycle.
